Traditional Christmas Stocking

My mother made our Christmas stockings when we were little.  She crocheted them without following a pattern, and it is the style I have grown to love.  I wanted to re-create them for my family, but with a few changes to make them my own.  This is the pattern I came up with to make ours, and I love them!  I hate having to finish a project after I'm done crocheting, so I tried to design this will as little extra work as possible.  I haven't gotten around to my names yet, but you can easily sew them on after!   I hope you enjoy the pattern too! You will need: Less than a skein of your main color (I used green ) Less than a skein of your cuff color (I used white ) Crochet hook size N Pattern: Chain 19 Row 1: Single in 4th chain from hook until the end, then continue around the other side, then slip stitch to join.  Row 2-4: Chain 2, single in previous singles to end of row, slip stitch to join.  ...

Quick and Easy Christmas Stocking

This is a very basic stocking.  You use a large hook (Q) and two strands of yarn, so it works up very quickly.  I think I had it done in about an hour (but who really knows since my baby wanted to help with this project as much as any other, lol). You will need: Less than a skein of your main color (I used red ) Less than a skein of your cuff color (I used white ) Crochet hook size Q Pattern: Chain 37 Row 1: Single in 3rd chain from hook until the end.  Row 2-10: Chain 2, turn, single in 2nd single from hook then single to end of row.  Chain 1, cut off.  Row 11: Slip stitch on 9th stitch. Chain 2, then single in 2nd stitch from hook. Single 17 more times.  Row 12-20: Chain 2, turn, single in 2nd single from hook then single to end of row.  Row 21: Slip stitch on last stitch.  Chain 2, then single in 1st stitch from hook. Single across row. When you reach the last stitch, single 2 instead o...

A Batty Tablet Stand Pillow

It's hard to find yarn projects that work for men! I needed a nice Father's Day gift, so I thought a tablet stand pillow would be a good idea! I also wanted it to have a bat on it, for you know, batty reasons. This was my first time both making a graph and working from a graph, but it came out better than expected. If you're no so into bats, you could also just skip the graph and do a solid color, stripes, or even a different graph of your own liking. So here's what I did: You will need: Less than a skein of black  Worsted Weight Yarn , but you will use most of it. I used Red Heart Super Saver . Less than a skein of yellow  Worsted Weight Yarn , you won't use that much of it. I used something I had already that didn't have a label on it anymore. Stitch Marker Tapestry needle  (for weaving in ends) Poly-fill A crochet hook a little smaller than what your yarn recommends. I used a  4mm Crochet Hook   First, I started with the bottom t...

Monster Pillow & Bag

I created this project for my nephew's birthday. I had recently purchased the Michael's Loops & Threads circular knitting machine, and wanted to use this to make him something special. I finished everything off with crochet. This isn't really a pattern, more of a guideline on how I created this, since I didn't really know what I was doing with the machine yet and didn't keep track of how many rows I was doing. So here's what I did:  I started by knitting a panel on the machine but didn’t keep track of rows. I was trying to get it around the size of double the width, but I just eyeballed it. I used Red Heart Super Saver Green . Then I folded in half, and singled around the two sides, leaving the bottom open for stuffing.  Here it is below partially stuffed to give you an idea of what it looked like at that point: For nose, I crocheted two by: Row 1: magic circle, 6 singles in circle, slip stitch in first stitch. For ...
